I am Ashley a Nurse Practitioner at Grace + Beauty and today I wanted to discuss an area of concern that we see a lot of patients have and that is submental fullness or a double chin. We have two treatments here that when done in conjunction with each other deliver great results. These two treatments are Kybella and Evoke.
WHAT IS KYBELLA?
Kybella is the only FDA-approved, non – surgical, injectable medication for submental fat reduction aka "double chin" and jowls. It is made up of a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body.

HOW KYBELLA WORKS
Kybella is an FDA-approved treatment made of a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in the body. This molecule helps aid in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When Kybella is injected into the fat, it destroys the fat cells. This treatment requires a series of injections and multiple sessions for the desired outcome. Many of our patients have benefited from our combo treatment which utilizes Kybella and Evoke Facial Remodeling. During your consultation, we can discuss which procedure and plan is best for you.
TREATMENT RESULTS
As with any cosmetic treatment, individual results may vary. Kybella can address stubborn areas of fat in the submental area aka the double chin, and the jowls. This treatment can help patients get a more defined jawline and enhance facial contouring. Kybella has also been able to help patients
who are post liposuction with small areas that could not be addressed during their procedure. Treatments can be performed every 4 weeks. Most patients will need 2 – 4 treatments. However, some patients may need up to 6 treatments based on their desired results. Results are
permanent.
WHAT IS EVOKE?
Evoke is a revolutionary, hands-free facial remodeling platform. This proprietary non-invasive technology is an industry first, delivering hands-free thermal facial and submental remodeling. This device deploys bipolar frequency energy to the lower face, targeting the jawline, jowls and submental area. By directly targeting these areas, Evoke remodels skin and subdermal tissue to deliver more defined facial characteristics.
HOW EVOKE WORKS
Specifically designed headgear is worn by the patient, and a series of fully programmable, hands-free applicators are used to deliver bipolar RF energy to the target problem areas such as the cheeks, jowls,
jawline, and neck. RF energy is delivered to the surface and subdermal layers of the skin. And similar to other lasers and devices, Evoke heats the skin and triggers the skin cells to tighten as collagen and elastin production is stimulated. This thermal response of the skin can help loosen and reposition fat, tighten the tissue and tone the overlying skin.
TREATMENT AREAS

LONG LASTING RESULTS
Results of Evoke treatments are long-lasting but not permanent. While it effectively reduces the signs of aging on the face, it cannot stop the natural course of the aging process after a treatment. Therefore, we recommend follow-up sessions for optimal results. Results are seen after the second or third session. We recommend a series of 6 treatments, each spaced 1 week apart.
